Over the next few months, JVP will be hosting a book club series exploring the similarities and differences between the history and current practice of Zionism in Palestine/Israel and U.S. treatment of indigenous Americans and people of color. The series will pair chapters of Saree Makdisi's Palestine Inside Out with excerpts from books or articles about U.S. history and sociology.

For the first session we will read Chapter 4 ("Inside Out") of Makdisi's book alongside three chapters from Patrick Wolfe's Traces of Historythat discuss the expansion of the U.S. frontier and the incorporation of indigenous people into the American racial order. We will make PDF scans available to participants, but you can also purchase the books here:
