Join a slate of progressive leaders to discuss the power of boycotts and divestment as tools for social justice movements. Leaders from a range of historical and contemporary movements that have used boycott and divestment campaigns to bring about social change will discuss how those movements mobilized people and power through these tactics and the obstacles that they are facing today. Panelists will include leaders in the Palestine solidarity/BDS movement, the anti-Apartheid movement, and the farmworker justice movement. As state legislatures across the country and major party platforms threaten to undermine the constitutionally protected right to use boycotts as a form of political expression, we will hear also from a civil rights lawyer about the struggle to preserve this tactic as a tool for our movements.
